Monday!
Wahoo.
Fellow blogathoner Sue Poremba blogged the other day about Empty Mailbox Syndrome. I know what she means! My inbox is quiet too - not even so much as a chain email with words of wisdom from Dr. Phil. I checked my ISP and yep, everything is working fine.
At first it seemed strange, maybe even slightly disappointing. But today it’s just a relief. I have to get two articles out this week and hope to get a third one finished next week so I can be freed up in June to do all kinds of fun summer stuff with my soon-to-be second-grader.
Speaking of fun summer activities, another blogathoner, Sarah Ludwig Rausch, over at Parenting by Trial and Error posted about fun summer activities. She asks at the end of her post what kind of activities readers like to do with their kids in the summer. We’ll do all the usual things: visit local museums, parks, the waterpark, baking things in her EasyBake. But it shows how big of a nerd I am, I guess, that what I am most looking forward to is spending time teaching my daughter.
We (me) like to play “school.” We’ll get out the flashcards and do math facts and participate in our library’s summer reading program. She has already discovered the joys of reading fiction, and we’ll be sure to pick up a few more of her favorites, but I also want to show her how you can learn almost anything from books. Maybe we’ll have a question about ladybugs or flowers or bees or camping or science - then we’ll get a book about it. When we’re out shopping, I’ll let her buy a few small items with her own cash and teach her about counting money. We’ll look up some science projects and maybe make something with her electronics kit. It will be fun and I’m looking forward to it… but first I have to get these projects off my desk!
