Give your WordPress blog a home page.
Someone needed this information a few weeks ago, and now I cannot for the life of me remember who it was. I do remember, however, that it was someone who participated in a Business and Learning Tuesday night chat.
She wanted to make a static page her home page, using a WordPress blog. Several techies tried to be helpful, but I think the consensus was that she would have to do it somewhere in the miry depths where code lives.
Thanks to the Web Success Diva (Social Media Marketing Success for Solopreneurs), I found this explanation at Blogging Experiment of how to use a WordPress page as your home page. Apparently you can do it without delving into the murky world of code.
Now I want to tell you how I am so amazingly connected to the who’s-who in what-you-need-to-know. I used a cool Internet tool that brings my RSS feeds right into my inbox.
I’ve known about RSS, and had been using Google’s reader, but I never, ever remembered to check the page. But I check my email everyday. It’s quick and painless to see whether there’s new content at one of the blogs I follow, and because I can see the post title and (at least) a few sentences, I can easily see whether it’s something I want to read. Otherwise, the delete key is a click away.
Newsgator is the service I signed up for because it works directly with Outlook. But there may be others. (Probably are.)
And I know I’m not exactly what you would call an early-adopter, I know a few other folks who weren’t aware of this convenience. So that’s why I’m sharing it here.
Want to know who I have in my feeds? I haven’t added many yet, but the current list contains:
Woulda Coulda Shoulda, Word Count, The WAHM Magazine’s Editor’s Desk, The Writing Mother, Web Success Diva, Mama Needs A Book Contract, HousekeepingChannel.com’s Recent Content, Mind Over Mullis and Christie’s Corner. I recommend them all!
After briefly skimming it, I just might have to add Blogging Experiment.
Who do you have in your feeds, and who do you recommend I add (and why)?

Hi Carolyn!
I’m so psyched that you have theWAHMmagazine’s blog (From the Editor’s Desk) in your RSS reader!
And to be in such esteemed company as Web Success Diva and Mama Needs a Book Contract.
You made my day!
For me–I have a lot in my RSS readers…the list would take up way too much space in your comments. LOL.
