I’m trying to catch up. I’m going to start Lesson 2 tonight.

This photo is just priceless. The sculpture itself captures what so many of us know deep within our bones, our hearts and souls and the art historian in me is making an immediate compare and contrast to Michaelangelo’s Pieta and the meanings behind it. Okay, that had nothing to do with photography or its workings, but I was compelled to comment. :)

  3. C. says:

Thanks, Erika. I’m not familiar with Pieta, but I do know this sculpture is a favorite of mine.

(Even as I was taking the picture, I overheard a woman behind me remarking on how beautiful it is. Mothers instantly recognize the truth in it.)

p.s. The artist is Bruno Lucchesi. Apparently this is on loan to the Farm and Art Market in downtown Wichita.

Hey Carolyn, what are you shooting with? The class looks really interesting, but I only have a 4 megapixel Olympus stylus… I do have some leeway with settings, but not as much as a digital slr. Would the class work for me?

    Thanks.

Sure it would, especially if you have some manual controls. I don’t have an SLR either.

You might be limited on some of the homework assignments, but I’ve found so far that after reading up a bit on my camera, I can do them.

There’s no reason you couldn’t just read through the assignments and try a few things if you’d like. If it doesn’t work for you, there’s no reason you can’t drop it. But I’ve learned a lot.

(It doesn’t cost anything, so if nothing else, you’ll learn a few things.)
